I was also lis\u00adten\u00ading to a lot of Commodore 64 music at the time (both clas\u00adsics and mod\u00adern orig\u00adi\u00adnals com\u00adposed for the <span class=\"caps\">SID<\/span> chip).  The <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/MOS_Technology_SID\"><span class=\"caps\">MOS<\/span> Technology <span class=\"caps\">SID<\/span> chips<\/a> used for audio syn\u00adthe\u00adsis in the <span class=\"caps\">C64<\/span> were extreme\u00adly advanced, and way ahead of their time, fea\u00adtur\u00ading things like <span class=\"caps\">ASDR<\/span> envelopes which are nor\u00admal\u00adly found on stand\u00adalone syn\u00adthe\u00adsis\u00aders.  Speaking of which, the <span class=\"caps\">SID<\/span> chips had such a fol\u00adlow\u00ading that Elektron put togeth\u00ader a stand\u00adalone sound mod\u00adule based on them called the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/SidStation\">SidStation<\/a>.  Of course the <span class=\"caps\">SID<\/span> can be accu\u00adrate\u00adly emu\u00adlat\u00aded in soft\u00adware, but that won\u2019t stop the hard\u00adware purists from pin\u00ading for the orig\u00adi\u00adnal, flawed hard\u00adware.
